After becoming the industry standard for measuring gravure cylinders, DotScope has now expanded its capabilities with a range of new 2D functions. The latest updates to DotScope for gravure printing measurements are here.
The measurement of stylus engravings has been extended to include automatic measurement of wall width, cell area and surface percentage (dot%). Cross-screen engravings are now fully supported. Both diagonals, wall width, wall/cell ratio, screen count, screen angle, cell area and surface percentage (dot%) are automatically determined. The z-scan is now even more sensitive and works with improved artefact suppression, allowing for sub-micron accuracy even at lower magnification and a correspondingly larger field of view.
